Accepting an invite
You join a 3mote workspace by invitation. An Account Owner, Administrator or Manager adds you, and 3mote emails you a link that sets up your password.
The invitation email
The email comes from 3mote with the subject “You’ve been invited to workspace on 3mote”. It names the person who invited you and the workspace you’re joining, and carries a Set your password button plus the same link in plain text in case the button doesn’t work in your mail client.
The link is good for 7 days and can be used once. If you weren’t expecting the invitation, you can ignore the email — nothing happens until you open the link.
Setting your password
Click Set your password. 3mote checks the link, then shows Welcome to 3mote with your name in the greeting.
- Email is filled in for you and can’t be changed here — it’s the address the invitation was sent to.
- Choose a password and Confirm password must match.
- Your password needs at least 12 characters, with an uppercase letter, a lowercase letter, a number and a symbol.
Click Set password and sign in. 3mote saves the password, signs you in and drops you on your new workspace’s master board. There’s no separate sign-in step and no email confirmation code to chase.
If the sign-in doesn’t complete for some reason, you’re sent to the sign-in page instead. Your password is already set at that point, so just sign in normally.
If the link doesn’t work
Invitation links fail for three reasons, and the page names which:
- This link is incomplete — the link in the email was truncated or mangled on the way. Copy the full plain-text link from the email, or ask your administrator to resend.
- This invitation has already been used — someone already set a password with it. If that was you, sign in with that password; if it wasn’t, tell your administrator.
- This invitation has expired — more than 7 days have passed. Ask an administrator to send you a new invite.
Each error screen carries a Sign in link in case you already have a working account.
Pending invites, and asking for a resend
Until you set your password, your row in the workspace’s user list shows the status Pending. That’s how an administrator can tell that an invitation went out and hasn’t been used yet.
Anyone who can manage users can use the Resend invite action on your row. That issues a fresh link and emails it again — and the new link replaces the old one, so use the most recent email you received. Once you’ve set your password, your status becomes Active and the resend action no longer applies.
After you’re in
- Fill in your profile — name, photo, timezone, theme and language.
- Check your notification settings.
- Take the tour of Boards, Wiki and Chat.
What you can see and do depends on the role you were invited with — Account Owner, Administrator, Manager, Member, Commenter, Reader or Guest — and on which projects you’ve been added to. See Roles and permissions.
